Meet the Coaches & Instructors
Behind Katalyst Krav Maga
Our instructors are accomplished Krav Maga practitioners and master instructors who continually push themselves both on and off the mat. At Katalyst, we expect our coaching and instructor staff to constantly strive for higher levels of mastery in the craft they teach. We actively compete in martial arts, shooting, and regularly attend courses from some of the best instructors in the world to ensure we're always evolving and staying at the forefront of our disciplines.
At Katalyst Krav Maga, we pride ourselves on the quality of our Coaches. You can expect the following from our Instructors:

Quality instruction is a consistent theme in our reviews and something we take pride in and continually seek to improve.

The second most common theme is the strong sense of community, which begins with our instructor team.

All instructors regularly compete to sharpen their personal martial arts skills and attend ongoing coursework to ensure we’re teaching the most up-to-date and relevant tactics.

David Bergman
Head Instructor
David (a.k.a. Coach) is a lifelong martial artist who loves coaching even more than training. For him, coaching isn’t just about class plans—it’s about building a vibrant, supportive community where training partners push each other and have a blast doing it. There’s a kind of organized chaos in his classes, often fueled by his long-time students who help set the tone. When the energy is high, you’ll often hear him say: “When you realize this is your circus, and these are your monkeys.” In addition to his coaching, David is a Stop the Bleed instructor, ShivWorks alumni, and a USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association) pistol competitor. Outside of the gym, he’s a passionate hunter, outdoorsman, and a proud father.
- Krav Maga Israel Level III certified Coach (highest Level)
- Krav Maga Israel Second Degree Black Belt
- 20 plus years martial arts traing and experience
- Submission Grappling Competitor: Intermediate
- DCJS Private Armed Security

Outside of Krav, Asia is a dedicated Jiu-Jitsu competitor, a ShivWorks assistant instructor, an EMS volunteer, and has a couple of amateur boxing matches under her belt. She is a force multiplier on and off the mat.

Victoria Wiggin
Head Instructor
Victoria is a lifelong martial artist and ICU nurse, combining clinical precision with combat skill. She’s a Level 2 certified instructor with Krav Maga Israel, a regular on the competition mats, and likely has restrained more people—on the mats and in the hospital—than the rest of the staff combined. Known for her dry wit and sharp mind, she’s especially passionate about helping women take their safety into their own hands, volunteering at a battered women’s shelter to teach practical, no-nonsense self-defense.

Sara Bergman

Sara Bergman (a.k.a. Mrs. Coach) has been training Krav Maga with David for years and is currently a blue belt. She’s also a passionate Jiu-Jitsu competitor and a skilled massage therapist. As the backbone of Katalyst’s business administration, Sara is your go-to for anything related to the app, memberships, or payments—and she’s likely the first person you’ll meet at the gym. With a bubbly and vibrant personality, she’s all about grappling, and you’ll often hear her shouting “no no” when she’s on the losing side of a grappling match.

I’ve been taking classes at Katalyst for a little over a month now, and I’m definitely glad I made the decision to join. I don’t have much of a background in martial arts, but I can see that there’s something to offer here for both experienced and inexperienced people. The coaches are all very professional and knowledgeable- David clearly knows what he is doing and has done a good job of building a positive environment to train in. I look forward to continuing my training herePosted on Dana PhelpsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely incredible facility and instructors. In just a month of hard work, I already feel so much more comfortable, self-confident, and knowledgeable. I couldn’t recommend Katalyst and this fabulous team of people morePosted on Bailey TresslerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve been training with David for over a year. Not only has the community been such a blessing to me, but the training itself has improved my self-confidence, posture, and overall mentality towards life. I believe this is due to David & Sara’s values when running their business. For instance, classes include more than martial arts defensive tactics; they include self-awareness, situational awareness, “Stop the Bleed” courses, team building, Virginia’s laws around self-defense, and basic anatomy. He values ensuring students understand the “why” behind what he does. During our class recap, he explains his methods of teaching and how his personal learning experiences contribute to who he is as an instructor and what he teaches in the gym. I’m so thankful for the community and instructors at Katalyst!Posted on Matt CognacTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I started at Katalyst a little over a year and half ago with martial arts experience. From the very first day I felt welcomed and challenged to push my limits. David is a top notch very knowledgeable instructor who takes an individualised approach with each and every student with years of experience as well as his coaching assistants. Katalyst is home to people of all ages, backrounds and skill levels. I also like how the classes include beginners and advanced students to share knowledge! In the time I've spent I have not only benifited physically but mentally as well gaining experience and confidence. Weather you are an absolute beginner or an experienced martial artist and self defense practitioner this is the place to be! Much love❤️Posted on Angela RothwellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My husband and I are new, and we are enjoying our classes so far. We are learning a lot and we look forward to our next class. Everyone is very friendly and very welcoming.Load more
