My daughter started taking classes here to help her deal with bullying and self defense and she has blossomed in confidence and has learned to be able to defend herself. I love how Katalyst gives real life examples and lets everyone know this is just training in a controlled environment but with practice and with this training you’ll be able to defend yourself in unexpected situations.

The Katalyst approach differs from other schools, since they not only instruct on how to perform the techniques, but how to combine those techniques into a cohesive pattern, resulting in in the best possible outcome for that situation. David is an excellent instructor, who combines the “theory of the fight” with the ability to adjust his teaching methods to accommodate any previous fighting experience from zero to blackbelt. I really appreciate the division of specific fighting styles over a 4-week period, with each week breaking down complex techniques into small components, supporting repetition, leading to better overall retention.

I have been coming to classes at Katalyst for almost 5 months now and I love it! I was interested in learning self defense, but had never done any form of martial arts training before. I was nervous my first class, but Sara, David, Tara, and everyone in class made the environment feel comfortable. Coach David is very knowledgeable and patient. The atmosphere at Katalyst is welcoming and everyone is supportive and encouraging. Classes are challenging but very rewarding. I love coming to Katalyst and am so appreciative for everything I have learned thus far in training. Thank you Coach David, Sara, and everyone at Katalyst!

I'm very happy with my experience at this gym. I appreciate that they have a flat weekly rate; you can show up to as many classes as you want that you're eligible for without the rate going up. The classes are offered at various times, which allows for some flexibility in scheduling.

The instructors are great at facilitating communication in terms of safety/avoiding injuries. They teach best practices and etiquette. With that being said, their teaching model also includes intense modes of training, such as stress testing and competitive drilling. Katalyst maintains a standard of safety even during our most intense modes of training, which I appreciate.

There is a great community of people at this gym with a variety of backgrounds. All the instructors are highly qualified, friendly, and happy to help out or answer questions. The staff clean the gym every night, so the gym is always in good condition and taken care of. Overall, I highly recommend this gym, especially for those looking for self-defense training.

Program & Pricing FAQs

Are these martial arts classes fun?

Yes, martial arts classes can be a lot of fun! They offer a dynamic and engaging way to stay active, learn new skills, and challenge yourself physically and mentally. Whether you're perfecting techniques, sparring, or working on fitness, the sense of accomplishment and camaraderie with fellow students makes the experience enjoyable and rewarding. Plus, you’ll be learning practical self-defense skills in an energetic environment.

What should I wear to a Krav Maga class?

For your Krav Maga class, wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows for ease of movement, such as a t-shirt, workout pants or shorts, and athletic shoes. Avoid clothing with zippers or accessories that could cause injury. It’s also a good idea to bring water and a towel for hydration and wiping off sweat.

Can martial arts cause injury?

Because we place such a huge focus on safety and injury prevention, we're proud to say that injuries are very few and far between with our program. In fact, because martial arts gets you in great shape, and makes you strong and flexible, people often see LESS injuries in their lives.

Do you have to be in good shape to take martial arts?

Not at all! In fact, many people use martial arts as a way to get in good shape. They come to us out of shape, and quickly become athletic and limber.

Is martial arts violent?

No! Because self-defense technique is taught in martial arts, it's often thought of as violent. However, the philosophies behind martial arts revolve around peace and harmony. The moves are more of a way to become connected with your body. We teach diplomacy and friendship. However, if a violent situation ever arises in your life, you'll have powerful tools to defend yourself and your loved ones.

More Confidence. More Focus. Get Fit.
