Why Wrestling For Self-Defense?
In self-defense, there are two rules: stay conscious and stay upright. Being able to grapple while standing is the most crucial element of remaining upright. With our standup grappling, we drive home the combat fundamentals of pressure, posture, and position.
Wrestling is also a great way to learn how to defend yourself against a larger or stronger attacker. It teaches you how to use your body weight and leverage to your advantage. Wrestling also teaches you how to control your opponent and escape dangerous situations for your personal safety.
Unlike most sport-focused grappling classes, in Krav Maga, we also look at the possibility of accessing our weapons and/or using unconventional striking with our wrestling to diminish our opponent’s will and ability to continue the assault.
